About the instrument

Description

The Avance III HD 300 high performance digital NMR spectrometer is located in G-0434 on the ground level of CDI building of the City College of New York. It is equipped with a compact nanobay, a superconding magnet with 5.4 cm bore operating at 7.05 Tesla and 1H operational frequency of 300 MHz. It has a BLA2BB dual broadband amplifier, including two broadband amplifiers providing up to 150 Watts X-frequency (6-163 MHz) and 50 Watts 19F or 1H frequency for both observe and homo/heteronuclear decoupling in both CW and high power pulse operations; all operations are under computer control. It is equipped with a multinuclear Broadband Fluorine Observe (BBFO) probe (5 mm sample diameter) with digital tuning covering the range from 15N to 31P as well as 19F with 1H decoupling or observation. It has automatic tuning and matching (ATM) accessory that permits computer control of tuning and matching from sample to sample and X-Nucleus selection for optimum automation. It has low temperature accessory for BVST Variable Temperature (VT) control unit operating on liquid N2.

Probes

It is equipped with a multinuclear Broadband Fluorine Observe (BBFO) probe (5 mm sample diameter) with digital tuning covering the range from 15N to 31P as well as 19F with 1H decoupling or observation.

Services

The spectrometer is primarily used by researchers from the department of chemistry and physics. In addition to routine 1D 1H/13C NMR experiments, several 2D NMR experiments (gCOSY, NOESY, gHMQC and 19F-1H HOESY) and multinuclear NMR experiments (119Sn, 19F, 31P etc) can be performed. The VT unit can be utilized to perform NMR experiments at variable temperature.
