The Science Division at City College of New York (CUNY)
includes about 50 research-active Scientists, with three members of the National Academy of Science and six University Distinguished Professors, bringing in $20 million annually in grant funding. Interdisciplinary faculty research include Cell Biology, Neuroscience, Photonics, Biophysical-Chemistry, Nanomaterials and Soft and Hard Condensed Matter Physics. The Advanced Research Complex planned for City College’s South Campus will soon provide us with an opportunity to further advance our Research program. |

Research Resources:
Science Division Doctoral programs:
- Physics Ph.D.
The City College is the major participant in the University Ph.D. program in Physics. A set of graduate courses is offered at City College, as well as extensive research facilities for experimental and theoretical research.
- Chemistry Ph.D.
The CUNY Doctoral Program in Chemistry is a unique multi-campus consortium that offers graduate students several advantages: a wide diversity of faculty research interests, an abundance of research equipment and instrumentation, interdisciplinary and collaborative research, and opportunities for teaching assistantship.
- Biochemistry Ph.D.
The Ph.D. Program in Biochemistry draws from fundamental chemical theory and research techniques as the basis for explorations into problems of biology. Students participate in research early in their graduate careers and engage actively in a broadly based seminar and colloquium program.
- Biology Ph.D.
The CUNY Ph.D. Program in Biology provides its students with interdisciplinary research and training opportunities in the world-class laboratories of doctoral faculty located both at CUNY campuses throughout New York City, and at affiliated institutions.
- EES Ph.D. From its inception in 1983, the Doctoral Program in Earth and Environmental Sciences has identified itself with promoting teaching and research in the study of the earth.
- Mathematics Ph.D. The CUNY Graduate Center's Department of Mathematics is a crossroads for the many research mathematicians working in the City University of New York.
